Development of Professional Responsibility in Medical Students within the Context of a Family Polyclinic

Sixth-year students play a key role in outpatient care, directly participating in pediatric consultations in polyclinics under the supervision of mentors. They do not merely assist but independently manage patients: collecting medical history, performing physical examinations, and formulating preliminary diagnoses.

A crucial component of their training is involvement in decision-making regarding treatment strategies and follow-up care for young patients, which fosters the development of clinical thinking.

Such a level of engagement enables them to fully experience the responsibility for a child’s health that rests upon a physician’s shoulders. This practical experience becomes an invaluable foundation for their future independent professional practice.
